State Arts Sites
State arts agencies include state councils for the arts, historical commissions, museums, film boards, and state libraries and archives.
- State arts council sites may feature available grants and recipients, listings of arts organizations and artists working in the state, arts news, information on folk culture, calendars of events, and photographs of current exhibits.
- Historical commission or preservation sites may include information about grants, applications and tax incentive programs, publications, reports, maps, photographs, and information about the National Register and Historic Landmarks programs.
- State museum sites may provide directories of state museums and online educational resources, and often include images of their exhibitions
.
- State film boards promote use of the state by filmmakers, so their websites often include a location database, directories of in-state production resources, listings of festivals, filming news, regulations and even weather conditions.
- State library sites often provide access to the catalogs of the state's libraries and shared databases of articles and reference works, reading suggestions, lists of resident writers, and services for the blind or print-disabled. Some state libraries allow users to interact with a live librarian and offer homework help for the state's students.
- State archives may provide records management services to state agencies and make valuable holdings available to researchers via their websites or offline.
Some state arts sites also provide genealogical and archeological information.
