Welcome to the Village of Denmark, Wisconsin!

Located in the rural farmlands of south eastern Brown County, Denmark is home to more than 2,075 people. It offers a friendly, small-town atmosphere with easy access to business and recreational opportunities in Green Bay, which is just 15 miles north of the Village via Interstate Highway 43. We also have several local quaint shops and restaurants for people to visit, dine and shop. People are attracted to this area's "fun places to hang out", the area's natural beauty (Neshota Park, Maribel Caves, Devils River State Recreation trail, Village parks, local walking trails), its affordable housing and the many small town life style benefits we have to offer.

At the Village of Denmark, we will always strive to provide up-to-date information on village services and activities. Please check back often for updates on the latest construction activities, village news and other areas of interest. Take a look around and see what we have to offer.

Road Construction Updates

CTY Hwy KB/State Hwy 96 Entranceway into Village from Bohemia to St. Claude:
Updated as of December 31, 2009 at 7:00 a.m.

This project has already been designed by EarthTech engineers for the State of Wisconsin. Drawings of the project are available for viewing at Village Hall.

Ads for bids for the utility construction will appear in papers on January 7th and 14th. Bid opening for the utility work is scheduled for January 28th at 2 p.m. at Village Hall. Contracts for construction will be awarded by the Village Board on February 2, 2009 at 7 p.m. Utility work will be completed prior to May 15th. Monies for this project have already been placed into reserve by the Village.

Once construction for utilities (sewer, water) begins in Feb/March of 2009 along this corridor into the Village, truck traffic will be routed around the community by diverting trucks to the south on Bohemia to Hager Road then left onto S. Wall and then another right onto Prospect and out to Wisconsin Ave.

During utility construction, one lane will always be kept open. Subsequent to the utility work; road construction will begin in May 2009 and will be completed by Oct/Nov. The new road will be three (3) lanes wide with the center lane being designated for turns. Sidewalks will be installed on both sides of the road and no parking will be allowed along the sides of the road.

Overhead electrical service will be converted to underground. The electrical work will begin on or about March 15th and be completed by April 15th. Homeowners will need to pay for upgrading new meter bases and any things needing changes in their home.

CTY Hwy KB/Main Street/Wisconsin Ave. from St. Claude to Prospect:
Updated as of December 31, 2008 at 7:00 a.m.

Sewer and water utility construction along this major traffic corridor will begin in April/May of 2009. Advertising for bids will occur in February. Bid opening will happen on February 26th. The award of construction contracts will occur at the March 2nd Village Board meeting.

Electrical utilities will also be converted from overhead service to underground. Village has already placed $450,000 into reserve accounts for the electrical work. The Village will fund the conversion from overhead to underground electrical service in the public area. However, individual property owners will need to fund the upgrading of the new meter base and any changes in their house.

Once the utility work has been completed in September, the utility trenches will be temporarily patched with asphalt or concrete. The road construction portion of this improvement will occur in a subsequent year when the State has sufficient funds to undertake the final road construction project. If the Village should receive funds as part of a federal economic stimulus project this project could be started earlier.

Ayers engineering has been awarded the design contract for this portion of the road improvement. The Village will be holding a "Scoping" meeting with Brown County Highway and Ayres Engineering sometime in January to determine the various concerns that will need to be taken into consideration during the design phase.

Grand Avenue from Church Avenue to the east to Cty Highway KB:
Updated as of December 31, 2008 at 7:00 a.m.

Reconstruction of this portion of Grand Avenue will begin in March/Aprilof 2009. Robert E Lee Engineering has the engineering contract for this project. Portions of the road may be closed at times to through traffic. However, homeowners will have limited access to their homes. The road will be redesigned to improve the visibility at the intersection of Grand and KB. This will be achieved with a right angle intersection. This design should serve to reduce the speed of vehicles and those drivers who may have viewed this street as a "short-cut". Advertisement for bids will occur on Jan 7 and 14th. Bids will be opened on January 28th and contracts will be awarded on February 2nd. Construction will be completed prior to May 15th.

Highridge Avenue from the intersection of N.Wall and Highridge to the east to Diamond Ridge:
Updated as of December 31, 2008 at 7:00 a.m.

The road will be narrowed and a sidewalk installed on the South side of the street. Construction will begin in May after school is adjourned. Other features included in this project include the installation of "Your Speed Is" signs to let drivers know they need to slow down. We anticipate the construction will be completed prior to the beginning of the next school year (Sept. 2009). The Village has received written notification of the federal grant but has not received a contract. Therefore, the Village has not yet entered into a contract with Ayres for this work.
