Public Hearing on Sex Offender Ordinance To Be Held Tuesday Evening

Tuesday evening's Greenfield Common Council meeting will include a public hearing to receive public input and comments on the passage and adoption of ordinances related to the residency and loitering of sex offenders within the City of Greenfield.  The Common Council meeting will be held in the Greenfield City Hall Common Council Chambers beginning at 7:00pm.  All City residents are invited to attend.  Click "read more" to view past discussions and related links to this topic.

On January 6, 2009, the Greenfield Chamber of Commerce presented a check for $1,000 to the Greenfield Public Library, the first of 10 annual donations to be made in support of furnishing and equipping the new public library. The Chamber’s donations will go toward the creation of a state-of-the-art Business Conference Room in the new Library. The new Library is tentatively scheduled for opening to the public in July of 2009.

The Great Lakes Pet Expo will be held this year at the Wisconsin Exposition Center at Wisconsin State Fair Park in the Milwaukee metro area. Please stop by on Saturday, January 31st between 10AM to 6PM to see the many breeds of animals ready for adoption by area shelters and rescue groups! Visit the many vendors that will have the latest and greatest products for your pets! 2 stages will be set up for fun family entertainment! The reptile section is the perfect place to stop in with the family!

Candidates Set For Upcoming Elections

Three names will appear on the ballot for the Mayoral race in the City of Greenfield, which will require a primary election on February 17th to narrow the list of candidates.  There are also candidates for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th aldermanic districts in the City for the spring election.  Click "read more" to see who will be appearing on the ballot for the City-wide races.

Mayor Michael Neitzke recently recognized several Greenfield Police Department personnel for their years of service with the City.  Retiring after 29 years of service is Detective Dale Buhrandt, while Officers Shane Berghammer and Jennifer Gain celebrated 10 years of service.  Click "read more" to see more photos.

Recently promoted to Superintendent of Public Works, Dan Ewert was recognized for 15 years of dedicated service to the City of Greenfield by Mayor Mike Neitzke.  Mr. Ewert served as a Working Foreman for the Division of Public Works before being named Superintendent in September.

Holiday Lights Contest Winners Named

The Greenfield Beautification Committee recently named its winners in this year's holiday lights contest.  This year marks the 10th consecutive year of the Greenfield Holiday Lights Contest. The contest is a winter activity for the Greenfield Beautification Committee. Each year the Committee judges select the three best decorated homes as Holiday Lights Contest Winners. The area judged alternates from east to west each year. Judging this year was east of 76th Street in the City.  Click "read more" to see who this year's winners are.

Officers Recognized For Capture of Greenfield Bank Robbers

At the December 16th Greenfield Common Council meeting, off-duty Milwaukee Police Officer Tom Canzonari was recognized by Greenfield Police Chief Francis Springob and Mayor Neitzke for his assistance in providing a detailed description of the suspects involved in a bank robbery inside the TCF Bank on 76th Street on November 25th.  Greenfield Police Officer Michael Reddick was recognized for capturing the suspects later at a CVS Pharmacy on 27th Street.  Both officers received certificates of appreciation.

Greenfield Police Chaplain Passes Away

Greenfield Police Chaplain, the Rev. Ralph Leonard, passed away suddenly last Saturday at the age of 79.  Rev. Leonard began the chaplain program for the Greenfield Police Department after his retirement as the vice president for Church relations at Carthage College in Kenosha.  A memorial ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 19th at 10:30am at Carthage College's Siebert Chapel.
