H.M.S. Beagle: The Ultimate Science Store hosts a Science Club for students and Science Nights for adults. Science Club meetings focus on science topics ranging from dinosaurs to robots. There is a small membership fee and special offers for scouting groups.

Canon Envirothon is an annual competition in which winning state teams compete for recognition and scholarships by demonstrating their knowledge of environmental science and natural resource management. See the Kansas and Missouri Envirothon pages

The Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center focuses its educational programs on helping urban children and adults appreciate the bounty and beauty of nature, and learn outdoor skills such as hiking, camping, wildlife viewing and growing native plants. Hunting and fishing permits, books, videos and educational materials highlighting the natural resources of Missouri can be purchased in the Missouri Outdoors Nature Shop.

FIRST ROBOTICS is a team-based robotics design competition. FIRST is an acronym, which means "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology."

Kansas Citizens for Science is a not-for-profit educational organization that promotes a better understanding of what science is, and does, by: advocating for science education, educating the public about the nature and value of science, and serving as an information resource.

Kansas City, Missouri School District Planetarium is located in the former Southwest High School building at 6512 Wornall Road; the Planetarium is open during regular school day hours for scheduled groups or classes. There are also a number of programs scheduled outside school hours; for example, the Planetarium hosts a bi-monthly public Sky Watch Program on Wednesday evenings.

Kansas Junior Academy of Science is an organization for students interested in science and mathematics who wish to expand their ability and accomplishments in this field. Each student in the Junior Academy is encouraged to work on a science or mathematics project during the year.

KC Science INC is a partnership of public television, libraries, and museums focused on promoting science-related events, encouraging interest in science, advocating for science-based careers and inspiring natural curiosity throughout the community. Missouri Junior Academy of Science brings together middle and high school students to present research papers to local scientists and professionals for judgment. Students compete for recognition and an opportunity to advance to the state level.

PathFinder Science is an open, international community made up of researchers, teachers, citizens, and students interested in conducting collaborative research. The web site includes threaded discussion areas, organizing protocols, data submission, retrieval from interactive databases, background information on the research areas and a publication area for students to submit their own research work.

Project Lead the Way introduces a four year pre-engineering curriculum in area schools. The hands-on, project and problem-based PLTW approach adds rigor to traditional technical programs and relevance to traditional academics.

Science Olympiad is an international nonprofit organization devoted to improving the quality of science education, creating a passion for learning science and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science education by both students and teachers.
