Education Program

Book RoomThe Education Program at the Linda Hall Library invites students and educators to explore the extensive collections and resources in our Library. We provide students with the opportunity to learn how to conduct effective, scholarly research, and we work with students, educators, and educational organizations to present enriching and research-oriented programs.

Contact us to arrange for tours and instructional programs for your group. Instruction is customized for the age and subject interests of each individual group.

The Ask Linda Hall program is designed to provide interactive help with science and technology questions for high school students and others unable to come to the library. High School teachers whose classes need access to this program at hours other than those provided should contact us.

Fellowships support advanced and independent studies, dissertation research, and post-doctoral research. These stipends are administered by the History of Science Department.

We are pleased to feature The Shipman Award. This is an annual prize awarded at the Science Fair Awards Ceremony for a science paper. Please explore this information and contact us if you have any questions.

The Education Program Strives To:

  • Promote enthusiasm for science, engineering, and technology
  • Promote interdisciplinary studies and critical thinking
  • Support student research and writing projects
  • Encourage participation in science fairs and competitions
  • Promote awareness of the Joseph Shipman Award sponsored by the Linda Hall Library
  • Engage area education organizations in cooperative projects
