(BINGHAMTON, NY) Yesterday, Broome County with the confirmed support of both the City of Binghamton and the Village of Johnson City, submitted an application to the Department of State for a Local Government Efficiency Competitiveness -21st Century Grant to complete a third party police consolidation study. If awarded, the county would receive $50,000 from the $13.7 million Local Government Efficiency and Competitiveness funds established by Governor Paterson in May 2008. The County also partnered with the City of Binghamton to apply for an additional $444,444,.44 for possible implementation of the study’s findings.
