Special election on redevelopment scheduled March 3 |
The Lodi City Council voted Wednesday to set a special election March 3, 2009 for the Lodi Community Improvement Project.
The Project would make more funds available for a variety of improvements, such as grants for home repairs or replacement of underground utilities.
Redevelopment plans such as the Lodi Community Improvement Project provide cities with the financial assistance they need to reinvest in their communities without raising taxes. Instead, cities are allowed to retain a greater share of property tax already being paid to make needed improvements.
In Lodi, eminent domain is specifically excluded from the redevelopment plan. |
