Welcome to Orinda! The City of Orinda is committed to providing excellent service to the community with a focus on public safety, sound land use planning, infrastructure improvements, and responsible fiscal management of City funds. The City, incorporated in 1985, offers the following functions to better serve the citizens of Orinda: Police, Public Works and Engineering, Parks and Recreation, Planning, and Administrative Services. The governing board, the City Council, is comprised of five elected officials each serving four-year terms. The City Council, each year prior to adopting an operating budget, establishes Major Goals and Objectives during their public Strategic Planning Workshops. Orinda Selects New Mayor
The Orinda City Council annual reorganization meeting took place Tuesday, December 2, 2008. During the reorganization meeting, the Council accepted the Before a packed auditorium, the City Council appointed Sue Severson to serve as Mayor for the 2009 year. Sue, who was elected to a four year term in November 2006 and served as Vice Mayor in 2008, promised to “keep communication open” between the City and the people of Orinda. The City Council also appointed Tom McCormick to serve as Vice Mayor in 2009. Tom was elected to a four-year term in November 2006 and works as an attorney in Incumbent Council Members Victoria Smith and Steve Glazer were administered the Oath of Office seating both of them for second four year terms. |
