Extended Closure for the Community Center Pool - Updated
The Community Center's pool closure for winter maintenance will be extended at least one additional week. The leaks in the return lines were more plentiful than anticipated, thereby extending the time for repairs of the pipes and concrete decking. At this time the pool is expected to re-open on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. Please check the website for updates or call the Recreation Office at 866-2107 to confirm the opening date.

Banners Brighten Downtown Campbell
Downtown Campbell has a bright new look thanks to local artist Sonya Paz who donated her artistic talent and time to create eye catching artwork for new banners. Paz developed two different designs and color pallets to convey the message to "Shop with Us" and "Dine with Us" and support our downtown community.

The City's Fiscal Challenge
The City of Campbell has struggled with budget issues for several years and has already made significant cuts – about $4 million in adjustments over the past five years, including approximately 10% fewer employees. Unfortunately, the State’s recurring takeaways, the slowing economy, and other financial pressures have had a renewed impact on our local budget. Due to projected ongoing budget shortfalls of about $2 million, the City initiated an outreach effort this Spring to hear from residents. A dozen presentations were made; more than 330 people filled out feedback surveys.

The City Council discussed options this summer on how to move forward and voted unanimously to place a revenue measure on the ballot. Campbell voters approved Measure O by a 70% margin on November 4. The new tax rate, which will enable the City to maintain vital services, will take effect April 1, 2009.
