The Help Line publishes the Directory of Services for Older Adults in Forsyth County, a comprehensive listing of services that can assist the elderly of Forsyth County. Directories are updated annually and are available free of charge. Just call 724-2040 to request a copy, or go to the Resources drop-down menu at their website, www.seniorservicesinc.org, and click on Help Line Directory of Services, which will take you to a page where you can download a copy.
Clemmons Semi-Annual Clean Up The Stormwater Program held its semi-annual CLEMMONS CLEAN UP on October 18th.
A total of 148 people participated. Together they picked up 86 bags of
trash along our roadways that totaled approximately one ton of
trash. Great job!!!!!
Whether deliberate or unintentional, littering is against the law. Littering is costly . . . to clean up, to economic development, to community appearance, and to you, if you get a ticket. Stop littering. Think before you throw that cigarette butt out the window or that candy wrapper on the ground. If you miss the trash can, take the time and pick up your trash. Keep our community clean and free of litter. Thank you.
Flood Insurance Rate Maps The Federal Emergency Management Agency is revising the floodplain maps which document the location and elevations of the 1% chance floodplains. These maps are a part of the Flood Insurance Study (FIS) which is used to determine flood insurance rates for properties located within flood hazard areas. Floodplain maps may be viewed online at www.ncfloodmaps.com and at the Clemmons Village Hall, 3715 Clemmons Road.

Debris and Weeds Section 92 of the Clemmons Municipal Code governs the response to public nuisances identified as uncontrolled growth of weeds or accumulation of trash. The public policies stated therein outline proper investigation and abatement procedures. If you notice such conditions, especially those producing offensive odor or causing vermin, please contact the Village staff to file a complaint.
Review upcoming land-use agenda items for future Council meetings. Civic Opportunities Active citizen involvement is needed to help plan and decide issues that impact the future well-being of our community. Clemmons residents are always invited to apply for openings on the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment. Applicants are appointed to these openings in June. All applicants must live within the corporate boundaries of the Village of Clemmons. Stormwater Advisory Board - 1st Wednesday (7:00 pm)
Traffic in roundabouts move in a counterclockwise direction. Slow down as you approach the roundabout. Stop only to yield to vehicles already in the circle. Wait for a gap and merge into the moving traffic. If you miss your turn, just go around again.

Stagecoach Historical Marker The Clemmons Historical Society presented the Stagecoach Historical Marker to the Mayor, the Village Council, and the Citizens of Clemmons on Sunday, December 29th, 2002 at the Village Hall. The sign is located on Clemmons Road in front of the Village Hall where the Hattie Butner Stagecoach is on display.
Happy 200th Birthday The Village of Clemmons was founded in 1802. Clemmons marked its 200th anniversary in 2002 with a year-long celebration planned by the Clemmons Historical Society. The celebration began in January with a mural being painted at The Elms which was supervised by the N.C. Museum of Art. The "Living History Festival" was held in April and featured Roy Underhill of UNC-TV's "The Woodwrights Shop" plus many old timey crafts and trades demonstrations, music and food. The festival was held at the Clemmons Civic Center on Middlebrook Drive. During the "Living History Festival," the Clemmons Village Hall held an open house so everyone could come and see the Hattie Butner Stagecoach. The celebration continued on Sunday afternoon, May 5th, with "Historic Places Tour." The tour included the Stagecoach House, Clemmons family graveyard, Mt. Pleasant Church at Tanglewood, and the old Hope Moravian God's Acre off Hwy 158.
Projects in Work Transportation-Safety. The Lewisville-Clemmons Road project, widening from two to four lanes from West Forsyth High School to Peace Haven Road, has begun. The I-40 Harper Road project, which adds west-side entrance and exit ramps and replaces the Harper Road bridge, is completed. Stormwater Management. Federal Legislation passed in May 1997, ordered communities nationwide to implement a comprehensive stormwater management program by March of 2003. The program is intended to preserve, protect, and improve the Nation’s water resources from polluted rainwater runoff. This is an unfunded mandate and will incur significant expense. Costs must be assumed by local jurisdictions and will require an additional utility fee similar to your water and sanitary sewer fee. This program is similar to the stormwater program which Winston-Salem implemented several years ago. For more information on our Stormwater program go to Depts & Services. Home Program. Clemmons participates in this program designed to assist lower income families afford needed structural home repairs through grants. Financial aid can also help potential home buyers qualify for home mortgages. Please contact Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Housing at 727-2540 for more information on this very worthwhile program.
