Breaking News: Tuesday, January 13, 2009, 1:45 PM: Suspect in Glendale Home Invasions Charged

Formal charges were issued by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charging SPAIN DOMINICK BADY, age 24, of the 3800 block of Wyoming, in St. Louis, Missouri, with five (5) counts of Robbery in the First Degree, one (1) count of Attempted Robbery in the First Degree, and two (2) counts of Burglary in the First Degree in connection with the two Glendale Home Invasions on January 2 and 5, 2009, the robbery of the Hacienda Mexican Restaurant Manager on January 1, 2009, the robbery of the Boulevard Bank on January 6, 2009, in Rock Hill, Missouri, and an armed robbery at an ATM in Sunset Hills, Missouri on January 2, 2009. Bond was set at $ 500,000 cash only.

BADY reportedly confessed to his involvement in all five (5) robberies to investigators from the three departments, stating the downturn in the economy and a gambling habit played a role in the reason he began this recent crime spree. BADY had been employed as a laborer at a local construction company, but was only receiving worker's compensation benefits once he was injured on the job late last year.

BADY is currently being held at the St. Louis County Justice Center in Clayton on these charges, as well as the parole violation charge mentioned last Friday.

Glendale Police Chief Richard Black thanked the community at large for their assistance in identifying the suspect and reporting suspicious activity. Chief Black also commended the investigators from his department, the Rock Hill Police Department and the Sunset Hills Police Department for their excellent work which led to the suspect's apprehension and today's charges. "Our residents will sleep much better tonight knowing this dangerous person is behind bars and won't have the opportunity to strike again," Chief Black said.
