The ongoing outbreak of novel influenza A (H1N1) continues to expand in the United States. CDC expects that more cases, more hospitalizations and more deaths from this outbreak will occur over the coming days and weeks.

St. Clair County public health officials and emergency response personnel are prepared to respond quickly to any confirmed H1N1 Swine Flu cases in this area. There are currently no confirmed cases or probable cases of H1N1 Swine Flu in the Metro East area.

State to Open Hotline for H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) Questions
A new hotline slated to open Saturday morning will provide Illinois residents with easy access to information about the H1N1 flu (swine flu). The hotline (866-848-2094 for English, 866-241-2138 for Spanish) will operate daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily for as long as needed.

St. Clair County public health officials, emergency response coordinators, health care providers and school officials met today to ensure that we are prepared to respond quickly to any confirmed Swine Flu cases in this area.
Amendment to the 2005 Consolidated Plan and 2008 Annual Action Plan
St. Clair County is proposing a Substantial Amendment to the 2005 Consolidated Plan and 2008 Annual Action Plan for the Homelessness Prevention Rapid Re-Housing (HPRP) Grant, part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Comments will be received through May 8, 2009.
Public Health Agencies Provide Community Groups Tools to Fight Alarming STD Rates
The St. Clair County Health Department, East Side Health District and the Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health (ICAH) held a regional workshop on Adolescent Sexual Health on April 1, 2009 at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows with nearly 100 participants from area churches, schools, community organizations, and health professionals that provide services to teens attending.
