Seasonal Reminders
Leaf Burning
Remember by ordinance, there is no
leaf burning in the Village.
Yard Waste Stickers
Stickers are required for all yard waste paper bags or cans.
Residents not using the yard waste pickup subscription service, must
purchase stickers for yard waste bags or cans. Stickers are
available at the Lindenhurst True Value or the Walgreen's on Sand
Lake Rd. The cost is $1.33 per bag or can.
Stickers must be adhered to each bag or can. Cans must be
labeled yard waste. No plastic bas will be picked up.
Place yard waste curbside by 6:30 a.m. the day of your pickup (50
lb. weight limit).
Pickup for yard waste continues
until November 24th.
Holiday
Closings
The Village Hall will be closed on
Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28 for the Thanksgiving
holiday.
During the Holiday season, the
Village Hall will be closed one-half day on Christmas Eve, December
24, New Year's Eve, December 31, closed all day on Christmas Day,
December 25, and New Year's Day, January 1.
Christmas
Tree Recycling
Recycle your Christmas trees on
Monday, December 29 and Monday, January 5. Groot will pick
them up curbside. Please make sure all decorations and tinsel
have been removed. Do not place them in plastic bags.
Holiday
Stamps
Holiday stamps are now available
at the Village Hall.
Use of
Lakes
Remember ice is never safe.
Use of lakes during the winter season may be unsafe. Please
use caution.

The Village of Lindenhurst is
recruiting applicants for the position of "Census Taker" for a
special census. Applications are available at the Lindenhurst
Village Hall, 2301 East Sand Lake Road, Lindenhurst, IL.
Candidates must be:
* At least 18 years old
* Have a valid drivers license
* Be physically able to climb stairs
and do extensive walking
* Able to write legibly and
understand instructions
* Available to attend a three-day
training session
* Available for day, evening
and weekend work
Wages for this temporary
position
are as follows:
Enumerators: $14.50 per
hour
Crew Leaders: $16.00 per hour
Clerical Staff: $11.00 per hour
This census differs from the
decennial census, as the questions are briefer, taking only seven
minutes to answer six questions.

SWALCO
Household Chemical Waste Collections
SWALCO has recently expanded their
HCW program to include Public Drop-Offs at the Gurnee Facility on an
appointment basis and certain specified
dates.

Long-term Facilities can be used by Illinois residents for disposal
of Household Chemical Waste:
Naperville: 1971 Brookdale
(half mile south of the intersection of Hwy 59 and I-88, behind the
fire station)
LATEX PAINT IS NO LONGER ACCEPTED AT
HCW COLLECTIONS
Latex paint can be safely disposed of by adding materials such as
kitty litter or
Oil-Dry to solidify it. The cans
of paint can then be disposed of with
the rest of your
normal trash.
A variety of common household
materials can be brought to a HCW collection day, including:
oil-based paints, used motor oil,
driveway sealer, solvents, paint remover, antifreeze, aerosol
products, metal polishes, insecticides, old gasoline, hobby
chemicals, pool chemicals, weed killer, fluorescent bulbs, household
cleaners, household batteries, mercury, unwanted prescriptions,
medicines and supplements.

Authority is a HUD Certified Housing Counseling Agency.
If you (or someone you know) are facing foreclosure please call them

Environmental Activity and Education Commission
The Lindenhurst Mayor and Board
has created a commission to plan and undertake various projects
related to the environment and beautification of the environment of
the Village. They will provide educational opportunities for
Village residents to learn more about the environment and natural
beauty of our area and work with the Village Board in furtherance of
the policies and procedures approved by the Board.
