Volunteer Opportunities
Park Hosts
If you are enthusiastic, enjoy meeting new people, and care about protecting parks, then this job is for you! Volunteer Park hosts provide information to visitors, register campers, assist at the entrance stations, conduct customer comment surveys, open and close parks, pick up litter, perform minor maintenance and assist with interpretive programs. Hosts live in the parks, acting as “eyes and ears” for the Park Rangers, informing them when there is an emergency or visitor complaint. Volunteers provide a minimum of 20 hours of work per week in addition to remaining in the park during certain hours to assist visitors as needed. We provide RV sites with full hookups in exchange for your service. Current job openings are listed in the Corps of Engineers Volunteer Clearinghouse under Oregon, Willamette Valley Project.

Natural Resource Volunteers
Throughout the year, the Corps conducts natural resource management activities with the use of local volunteers. We often recruit volunteers from the community for special events such as Earth Day, Down By the Riverside, and National Public Lands Day. Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, church members, school groups, and other community groups have provided assistance with litter clean-ups, trail work, non-native plant removal, habitat improvement, and tree planting. For more information about these types of volunteer opportunities, please contact Park Ranger Tami Schroeder at 541-942-5631 or Tamara.R.Schroeder@usace.army.mil
