Become a WWOOF-er

You are encouraged to apply if you are willing to work cooperatively with organic farmers for 4-6 hours per day. If you are under 18 years of age, you must be accompanied by a legal guardian. Children and pets are welcome at many farms, just be sure to ask the host farmer before arriving.

WWOOF-USA cannot support any requests to obtain a visa. You are responsible for your travel and/or student visa. The United States Embassy grants temporary visas to those individuals who want to enter the United States. Applying for a visa should be done as soon as possible as it can take several months depending on the embassy in your country.

TO APPLY FOR WWOOF-USA MEMBERSHIP: When you become a member of WWOOF-USA, you will receive a printed directory and access to the online directory of more than 700 host farms in the US, including Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands.

• WWOOF-USA memberships are valid for one year, please remember to renew.
• Once you become a member, you will receive an online member password and a directory by US Postal Mail.
• The directory serves as a membership card that you must show to farmers upon arrival to his/her farm.
• After you sign up online with a credit card, or once we receive your application by mail, expect about 7-10 business days for your directory to arrive, longer if you live outside of the US.

After you join WWOOF-USA:

Once you receive the directory, contact the farm(s) where you are interested in WWOOFing. You may need to reserve a place well in advance of your arrival. Check with hosts if you have special needs, such as diet, or if you are interested in bringing children or pets. Different hosts can make different accommodations, and with more than 700 farms in the directory, you are sure to find what you are looking for.
