I lived in Burlington for 2 years...and worked at the Hacienda and then Behm's Truck Stop (is it still open?).  Miss 'em both and the customers. What I wouldn't give to be back home in Minot. I can't stand the big city....too claustrophobic! Too many weirdo's here..... Reply...

snoose, my wifes home was north of the water treatment plant, they had the large ring dike around the neighbor hood. I walked that dike every night after my mothers house was flooded. My home was north of the CP tracks and to the East. In fact my grandfathers farm was east down 2nd Ave SW.  Reply...

I worked the 69 flood ,16 st north of water treatment plant was as high as the Street signs,as for flooding this year I doubt it ,since 69 there have been 2 dams built in Canada for flood control and also Lake Darling is very low at this time, so it will hold back a lot of water Minot cleaned the river going through town also.Local runoff could be a problem with more snow and a fast melt. I think the problem scenario would be very warm weather coupled with a large amount of rain - on top of our large amount of snow.   Reply...

Why Rick? Well lets look at the facts.......Last year at this time we were in one of the worst droughts ever in North Dakota. Just because you have lots of of snow doesn't mean it will flood. It has more to do with how it melts. When it melts the weather conditions at the time. You will be surprised starting tomorrow how much of the snow is actually going to melt now. Minot could flood to day if a ice dam was to start. All I am saying is it is much too early to be freaking out about flooding, we have a lot of winter to go through before we even get close to crossing that bridge.

It is never to early to start thinking about flooding. In 69 the Armt Corps came to Minot and warned the City Council about flooding in the spring and they were laughed at. So don't tell me its to early. Reply...
