News from the desert

spacer image Pressures from tens of millions of residents are causing changes, some slow and some rapid, in the deserts. Water is an all-important commodity and is increasingly the focus of contentious debate. Other front-and-center issues include habitat fragmentation, introduction of alien species, destructive floods and earthquakes, waste disposal, and management of threatened and endangered species.
