IDYLLWILD, Calif., April 24, 2008– The San Jacinto Ranger District is continuing with the prescribed fire on the Bonita Vista project, located two miles north of Lake Hemet. San Bernardino National Forest fire crews plan to burn 40-50 acres within the K Flat area starting the week of April 28th and may extend into the following week of May 5th. Hand firing and helicopter burning operations are two of the methods firefighters will use during the burning process. “This is a continuation of our efforts to reduce the risk of wildfires spreading into communities and to protect the watershed,” said Acting Division Chief Bill Gevedon. “Firefighters will continually evaluate the weather and fuels conditions, and will take appropriate actions as needed.” Smoke may be visible in the Garner Valley and Idyllwild
communities. For further information please call Hilary Clark at (909) 382-2922. ### |
