Project Application: Criteria for Proposed Projects

The Center for Profitable Agriculture (CPA) is committed to increasing the value of Tennessee's economy through new, expanded and improved processing and marketing of agricultural, aquacultural and forestry products in Tennessee.

For a project to be considered by CPA, an application form must be submitted. The application form can be obtained on this Web site by clicking "Project Application." Applicants can choose to fill out the Online Application Form and submit it electronically, or they may select the Printable Application Form and mail it to the Center. Either format is perfectly acceptable.

Because of the number of requests the Center has received, it has become necessary to screen applications. Our faculty, who will be working directly with the Center's projects, have developed primary and secondary criteria that acceptable projects must meet.

Primary criteria required of projects:

The product must have a relationship to Tennessee        agriculture, aquaculture or forestry products.
The end product must be produced in Tennessee.

The project must be within the Center's capabilities and       resources

The project must contain a value-added product/service.

Secondary criteria required of projects:
Adequate information must be in the application to        appropriately evaluate the project.
Preliminary investigations must indicate that the project is        technically feasible.
Adequate financial/technical resources must be available to        take a project to completion.
The project should offer economic impact potential.
