  Music and Theater
  • Jazz, Rock, Gallery Openings, Arts Events, Community Theater! Several production companies offer regular music in Siskiyou County, with both local and visiting artists. Find a monthly calendar of music and arts events is available at the Siskiyou Arts Council web site...the latest information and links on Arts, Drama, Crafts, Music, Dance, Books, Film, and More!

  • Bluegrass Festivals Enjoy old time country music from world-class performers at the annual Scott Valley Bluegrass Festival in mid-July. The two day event is held in Etna City Park, with full days of music, morning open mic scramble, special programs for the kids, and country crafts booths.

    On Labor Day weekend, enjoy more bluegrass at the annual Blackberry Music Festival Sunday afternoon at the Mt. Shasta City Park. This is one of the free Scott Valley Bank concerts. For information call 530-926-4865 or visit the Mt. Shasta Chamber of Commerce.

    Yreka hosts its own bluegrass series, with Siskiyou Bluegrass Music Productions presenting 4 to 6 concerts each year at the Yreka Community Theater. Check their web site for up to date schedules.

  • Classical Concerts Dunsmuir's Tribute to The Trees takes place annually in June. The Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra plays a concert in the Dunsmuir Botanical Gardens. The concert is proceeded by a gourmet dinner among the trees.

  • Community Concerts Now in its 12th season, the Concerts in the Parks Series is a well-established tradition, widely appreciated in Scott Valley Bank's Siskiyou County region as an opportunity to enjoy the musical arts in a relaxed and beautiful setting throughout the summer.   • Art on the River - A special 3-day adventure for artists and their families combines whitewater rafting with watercolor and sketchbook instruction. Discover new skills, new ways of seeing the wilderness and expressing yourself in travel sketchbooks, journals and location paintings as you record your impressions of a remarkable river adventure.   • Come to Paint on Location Some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world are found in Siskiyou County.   • Order yourself a copy of the Dunsmuir Self-Guided Railroad Photography Tour from the Dunsmuir Chamber of Commerce. Railroad photographers can find great photo tips and locations with this handy self-guided tour map. Discover trains heading up to Black Butte Summit, being helped just as in the 1880's, but today with modern diesel-electric locomotives. Historic buildings can be found along the line. Discover dramatic shots of trains with awe-inspiring 14,162 foot Mt. Shasta and the unusual spires of Castle Crags in the background. ocations included in this guide range from easy road crossings to shots requiring a mile of hiking.

  • Discover a unique photography experience by reserving a Photography Blind at the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge. Wildlife photography opportunities are excellent at the Refuge. To enhance these opportunities, eight photography blinds have been made available, five on Tule Lake Refuge and three on Lower Klamath Refuge. These are available for use during daylight hours and by reservation only, and are located to take advantage of morning light. Blind reservations may be made in person, by telephone, or mail at the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex Visitor Center, located 5 miles west of Tulelake, CA, on Hill Rd.   • Butte Valley Saddle Company Dorris is the home of Butte Valley Saddle Company and internationally recognized saddlemaker Conrad Koppenhafer.
