The following is a list of university-level wilderness programs.
Natural Resources Distance Learning Consortium
The Consortium's purpose is to deliver courses to web-based learners, particularly those at non-campus locations. The Consortium provides upper-division undergraduate and graduate distance learning education to anyone interested in Natural Resources and managing their uses.

The Wilderness Institute's Wilderness and Civilization Program
Wilderness and Civilization is an inspiring and demanding two-semester academic program held at the University of Montana. Each year, a small group of students from around the country are immersed in the study of wildlands and the human-nature relationship. Wilderness and Civilization combines the strengths of classroom and field learning, interactive classes, dedicated faculty, and applied learning through internships. Wilderness and Civilization offers students the opportunity to explore contemporary conservation debates, make connections between disciplines, and learn how to cooperate to make positive change. Students receive a minor in Wilderness Studies that may complement any major.

The University of Montana Wilderness Management Distance Education Program (WMDEP)
The WMDEP is an interagency effort to increase wilderness scholarship among professional wilderness managers and the public at large. The WMDEP is sponsored by the Arthur Carhart National Wilderness Training Center,the University of Montana's College of Forestry and Conservation, and the Wilderness Institute and offers courses including: Wilderness in the American Context, Management of the Wilderness Resource, Wilderness Management Planning, Managing Recreation Resources, and Managing Recreation Resources in Wilderness Settings.
