簡介
諸如末期腎病(ESRD)等有嚴重致殘和致死後果的疾病給提供人壽保險和殘障保險福利的大型雇主帶來了鉅額成本。本研究將首先研究雇主這一與疾病相關的非醫療費用,以及雇主支付糖尿病患者的下列ESRD費用的模式:1)人壽保險福利;2)殘障福利以及3)替換雇員的費用。

方法
我們類比了一個10,000人的假設人群,其年齡和性別分佈符合美國典型雇員人群。此模型指標的資料來源包括美國腎臟資料庫(United States Renal Data System)和專有的人壽保險和殘障保險索賠資料庫。此外,我們還使用了已發表的資訊,以確認典型雇員福利計劃結構和年薪資訊,並估測替換損失工作人員的費用。

結果

結論
