Lab managers to pick up trash

By Ed Vigil

October 3, 2006

ISS hosted event is October 14

Laboratory managers are getting down and picking up trash at the Management Invitational Trash Tournament sponsored by Infrastructure and Site Services (ISS). The event on October 14 is a hands-on opportunity for Lab managers to help create a clean and safe work environment for themselves and their staff.

The clean-up event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and end at about 11 a.m. Trash bags, vehicle (if necessary), and refreshments will be provided for all the participants. In addition, prizes will be given out to the principal associate directorate with the most participating managers, and to the directorate that fills the most bags.

Safety and security are paramount during the event; all participants are encouraged to wear appropriate protective gear, including hats, gloves, eye protection, proper footwear, sunscreen, and insect repellant. Staff working on or near roadways also will be provided safety vests to improve their visibility to passing vehicles.

Managers interested in participating can sign up at http://arania.lanl.gov/fmd or http://arania.lanl.gov/fmd/html/iss_mgttrashtournament_index.html online.

For more information on the event contact the Infrastructure and Site Services Directorate office at 5-3663.
