iProcurement changing how Lab makes certain purchases

LVAs going away

Buying safety shoes, clothing and glasses at the Laboratory becomes Web-based starting today.

The current Local Vendor Agreement process is being replaced with a new "iProcurement" system by Oracle. The new system is simpler and less time-consuming, according to Acquisition Services Management (ASM) Division.

Currently, the general Laboratory population use Local Vendor Agreements to order certain personal protective equipment, such as safety shoes, clothing, and glasses. "iProcurement will provide a Web-based order system that allows designated employees to create, manage, and track their own orders," said Bennie Gonzales of Acquisition Operations (ASM-AO), project manager for the Designated Procurement Representative (DPR) Program.

The transfer to the new system is scheduled to occur today and access to iProcurement will be granted only to designated procurement representatives. "On that date, the old LVA system will cease to exist and only DPRs will be authorized entry into the system," said Gonzales.

Some 800 individuals across the Lab, nominated by their respective divisions under the new DPR program, will be responsible for ordering personal protective equipment for employees in their organizations. "The DPRs will process transactions for those individuals in their organization requiring personal protective equipment formerly available under the old LVA program," Gonzales explained.

In response to requests for streamlined training, an iProcurement systems online tutorial is now available for DPRs. "Because iProcurement ordering will not be a dramatic departure from the current Local Vendor Agreement system, individuals with some LVA experience will be able to complete orders for personal protective equipment based on information provided by the tutorial," said Gonzales.

The tutorial for designated procurement representatives is available at http://int.lanl.gov/orgs/sup/procurement/dpr/BOA_tutorial/index.shtml online.

To locate a designated procurement representative, go to http://lanl.gov/orgs/sup/procurement/dpr/docs/DRP_list.xls online.
