The Laboratory is participating in, and is a major supporter of the 2005 Santa Fe Business Expo April 21 at the Rosemarie Shellaberger Tennis Center at the College of Santa Fe. Sponsored by the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce, the expo features 101 information booths staffed by Santa Fe and regional businesses.
The small business advocacy team in the Community Relations (CRO) Office, and Laboratory procurement personnel are staffing a booth and will have information about Lab small business outreach programs and procurement opportunities at Los Alamos, said Tim Martinez of CRO, noting that the Lab is on the planning committee for the expo, which drew more than 1,000 attendees last year.
The expo is from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and admission is $5, however, free tickets are available at the chamber’s Web site at www.santafebusinessexpo.com online.
"The expo allows us to showcase the Lab's initiatives and efforts with regard to small business outreach and regional economic development," said Martinez.
Businesses ranging from education, health care, insurance, finance, graphic arts and media, printing, the Internet, real estate and lodging and banking have signed up to participate in the expo.
“We are pleased to be able to offer an opportunity to these great local businesses to network and grow their business,” said Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce President Marianne Pratt.
Martinez of CRO said that the small business advocacy team in CRO also holds regular office hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., every Thursday in the Chamber of Commerce offices at the Santa Fe Premium Outlet Mall at the junction of Interstate 25 and south Cerrillos Road. The weekly sessions allow the Lab to meet with local businesses interested in learning about procurement opportunities at the Laboratory, he said.
