LANS Community Giving Grants

Local nonprofit organizations have until 5 p.m. today to apply for a Los Alamos National Security, LLC Community Giving Grant. Nonprofits must have a special project using Laboratory employee volunteers to be eligible for a grant.

Through the Community Commitment Plan, LANS wants to be actively involved in the communities where Laboratory employees live and support a vibrant quality of life in the region. Through this new program, qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations in Northern New Mexico can apply for a Community Giving Grant. Awards range from $1,000 to $25,000 and are available to projects involving current Laboratory employees.

Proposals should be submitted to the Community Programs Office (CPO). Proposals must address specific questions outlined in the grant procedures. Late proposals will not be accepted.

The new program is in addition to monetary awards LANS recently gave to 132 nonprofit organizations through the Laboratory's VolunteerMatch program, and the dollar-for-dollar match of employee contributions through the employee-giving campaign (United Way of Nothern New Mexico and United Way of Santa Fe County). See the August 29 NewsBulletin for more information.

For more information about the Community Giving Grant program, grant procedures, and the proposal process, contact Mariann Johnston or Vangie Trujillo of Community Programs at 5-4400 or CPO@lanl.gov by e-mail.
