Local groups receive funds from Washington Group International

Virginia Bradshaw of the Fathers as Readers program at the state penitentiary talks with Community Programs Office Director Kurt Steinhaus during a presentation Monday. Bradshaw accepted a check from Bob McQuinn of Nuclear and High Hazard Operations representing Washington Group International, one of the parent companies of Los Alamos National Security, LLC.

McQuinn presented certificates and checks totaling $21,000 to representatives of seven programs in the area, including the LANL Laces program.

Warehouse 21, the Chimayo Youth Conservation Corp., Joining and Understanding Now, Teens Overcoming Separation (JUNTOS), Self Help Inc.'s Children's Tools for School Project, and the National Dance Institute also received community giving grants to support their regional programs.
