LANS LLC issues request for industry comment on Los Alamos Science Complex

February 29, 2008

Los Alamos National Security, LLC has issued a draft request for industry comment for the proposed Los Alamos Science Complex.

The Science Complex is expected to house approximately 1,600 workers and is projected to consist of two new buildings to be used for offices and light laboratories. These buildings and a parking garage, to be located about a mile west of the Laboratory’s Main Technical Area 3, will be constructed in an environmentally sound, highly cost-effective manner.

These state-of-the-art and multi-purpose facilities will enhance mission-related scientific research in support of DOE and NNSA defense programs missions, as well as serving the broader scientific needs of the nation.

“The Science Complex is a key facility in Los Alamos National Laboratory’s continuing commitment to ensuring that America and its citizens continue to benefit from the unique multidisciplinary scientific capabilities that are the hallmark of this institution,” said Terry Wallace, principal associate director for Science, Technology, and Engineering (PADSTE). “Not only will this facility enable the next generation of science, but the next generation of world-class scientists as well.”

Industry comments are due by close of business on Wednesday, March 5.
