NNSA Administrator to announce plans for nuclear weapons complex

December 18, 2007

Thomas D'Agostino, administrator for the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), will discuss the future of the nuclear weapons complex during a presentation from Washington, D.C., scheduled to begin at 11 this morning.

Laboratory employees can view the presentation live on LABNET, Channel 9. The talk also can be seen on desktop computers using Real Media Stream and IPTV technology .

Employees also can watch the presentation from a special viewing area in the National Security Sciences Building Auditorium. Standard escorting rules apply for admission to the NSSB Auditorium (uncleared personnel must be escorted).

During the presentation, D’Agostino will preview his vision for the future of the nuclear weapons complex and offer highlights from the current plan, which will be released in January as a draft Supplemental Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (SPEIS).

The SPEIS contains different scenarios for transforming the nuclear weapons complex, including a preferred alternative that would consolidate missions and facilities within existing NNSA sites.

Employees are encouraged to tune in.
