Tis the season for giving
Visions of sugar plums, candy canes, family, friends, and gingerbread houses usually means the holidays are upon us.
Speaking of gingerbread houses, Acquisition Services Management (ASM) Division is hoping to make the holidays brighter for two local charitable organizations by sponsoring a silent auction and raffle. The prizes: several gingerbread houses, large and small.
"I make these every year and give them to various charities," said Annette Houston of Purchasing (ASM-PUR). "It started with my kids and expanded to charities. Some of them take days to make," she said of the gingerbread houses. "It takes a lot of patience to do them. It's a kind of hobby around this time of year."
The minimum bid on the small gingerbread house is $50 and $125 for the large gingerbread house. Bids can be made in person or via e-mail to ahouston@lanl.gov by electronic mail.
Employees can place bids until 3 p.m., December 13. The gingerbread houses can be seen in Room 3011E on the third floor of Central Park Square downtown (near the ASM Division Office). Call 7-0879 or the ASM Division Office at 7-9182 for access to the building.
Proceeds from the silent auction and the raffle will go to the New Mexico Autism Society and Camp Rising Sun (a five-day overnight camp for autistic children).
