Have a hot dog, donate school supplies

August 8, 2007

School supply drive ends Friday

Acquisition Services Management (ASM) Division is partnering with the Community Programs Office (CPO) on its school supplies drive. Between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., Thursday on the lawn at Central Park Square downtown, Lab employees can have a hot dog, chips, and a soft drink in exchange for a bag of school supplies with a minimum value of $3.

Suggested school supplies employees can donate include scissors, pencils, markers, crayons, rulers, pencil sharpeners, notebooks, backpacks, and glue sticks.

"This is our chance to provide local school children in need with full backpacks on their first day of school," said Carla D. Martinez of Purchasing (ASM-PUR).

Employees who can't donate school supplies are asked to pay a suggested $3 donation for their lunch.

Shaw Environmental also is partnering in Thurday's event.

For more information, contact Martinez at 5-8444. For information about the Lab's school supplies drive see the July 25 story.
