Heightened state of alert
A "heightened state of alert" encourages community members to notice unusual circumstances and then report their observations to law enforcement personnel. Citizens should continue to conduct activities as planned, while paying particular attention to their surroundings.

When federal Homeland Security officials declare terrorist threat levels to be "high" (orange) or "severe" (red), Iowa State University police officers and other authorities will automatically implement additional protective measures. See "university response to heightened alert."

How to help
Iowa State University students, faculty and staff can help maintain a safe campus by reporting suspicious circumstances to the ISU Police Division. See "how you can help."
