Nau, III, Chairman of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP), has been appointed to the President's Transportation Infrastructure Streamlining Task Force, an initiative recently announced by the White House. The task force will promote interagency cooperation and the establishment of appropriate mechanisms to coordinate Federal, State, tribal, and local agency consultation, review, approval, and permitting of transportation infrastructure projects. Chairman Nau will serve on the task force along with the Secretary of Agriculture, Secretary of Commerce, Secretary of Transportation, Secretary of the Interior, Secretary of Defense, Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, and Chairman of the Council on Environmental Quality. "I am honored to serve in this additional capacity, which further demonstrates President Bush's commitment to preserve America's past while strengthening its infrastructure and economic future," said Chairman Nau. "Historic preservation and progress are not incompatible efforts. They should be partners in enhancing the Nation's economy, heritage, and culture. The President's placement of ACHP on this task force affirms the Administration's commitment to historic preservation." An independent Federal agency, ACHP promotes historic preservation nationally by providing a forum for influencing Federal activities, programs, and policies that impact historic properties; advising the President and Congress; advocating preservation policy; improving Federal historic preservation programs; protecting historic properties; and educating stakeholders and the public. ACHP is located in Washington, DC., with a field office in Colorado. ### Executive
