Albany Research Center (ARC) Visiting Procedures

The Albany Research Center is located on a college-like campus in beautiful, historic Albany, Oregon, which is located within 1 hour of the Pacific coast to the west and one hour to the Cascade mountains to the east.

We welcome visitors to our campus. Parking is available in various locations throughout the Center. Because of security regulations and policies, visitors must adhere to the following:

U. S. Citizen
Any U.S. Citizen may be invited by staff to ARC without prior approval.
  • Visitors to ARC will only be admitted Monday through Friday (except Holidays) between the hours of 0630 and 1730.
  • Visitors must leave ARC before 1730 of the day they entered ARC but may return the following day.
  • Visitors will only be allowed to enter and exit via the main gate located on Queen Avenue.
  • All visitors will be issued a visitors pass, no exceptions.
  • Visitor passes may be obtained from the guard on-duty and are located in the main guard house at the main gate on Queen Ave.
  • All visitors attempting to enter ARC with a vehicle are required to obtain a vehicle parking permit.
  • All visitor badges and parking permits must be returned the same day as issued to the guard house.
  • Unexpected visitors to the Center may be admitted if the guard on duty is able to locate and obtain the permission of the DOE employee that the visitor is there to see.

Foreign Nationals

The Security Program for Foreign National Visitors to ARC has been established in accordance with DOE Order 142. This Program encompasses inviting, screening, processing, security planning, escorting and protecting against unauthorized access by Foreign Nationals invited as visitors to ARC.
