Partnership Opportunities

CWLA is one of the most respected voices for children in the United States. Our demonstrated track record of success in improving life for children and their families has won us the trust of parents, professionals, elected officials, and the general public. Our partners value the nearly 90 years of experience we bring to each relationship, and they recognize the benefit of working with a national organization that reaches every state and nearly every community.

At CWLA, we are true believers in the tremendous power of collaboration, and we value relationships with corporations and organizations that share our passion for children. Our comprehensive, multilayered marketing partnerships result in financial success as well as the ability to help more than 9 million children live safer, happier, healthier lives.

Celebrity Partners

CWLA's rich history of celebrity partners has included the late Eleanor Roosevelt and Averill Harriman, along with a bipartisan and diverse group of diplomats, members of Congress, mayors, governors, entrepreneurs, actors, and entertainers. John, F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, and Richard Nixon have provided endorsements and letters of support for our work. Many years ago, Leonard Bernstein performed a concert to benefit CWLA. Sally Jessy Raphael, Efrim Zimbalist Jr, and Chad Everett have assisted us by appearing in public service announcements. Carol Burnett, Ed Asner, and others acted in our video to promote social work careers. Numerous others have also assisted us, including:

Actor Valerie Bertinelli
The Boys Choir of Harlem
Hillary Clinton
Father George Clemons (One Church, One Child)
The late Elizabeth Glaser (founder of the Pediatric AIDS Foundation)
Tipper Gore
Athlete Daryl Green
Composer Marvin Hamlisch
Actor Valerie Harper
Musician Lionel Hampton
Actor Victoria Rowell
The late Dave Thomas (founder of Wendy's)

Our Events

During the late 1990s, CWLA formed relationships with the Hollywood-based Women in Film and Behind the Bench, The NBA Wives Association. Women in Film was responsible for putting together a "Night with the Stars" fundraising event in Los Angeles and for producing a PSA on child abuse prevention with the late John Ritter. Behind the Bench organized a number of charity events, including an annual celebrity golf invitational and an All-Star Dinner event in 1998.

In 1999, we partnered with the International Digital Software Association (IDSA), an industry group whose membership includes the nation's largest video game makers, on "A Night to Unite for Kids" in San Francisco. Through this partnership, CWLA raised funds for its operations and worked with select IDSA members to spotlight positive messages about children and families in games produced.

In October 2003, CWLA hosted an event for the Colorado Foster Parents Association to recognize the unsung heroes in the foster care system and to spotlight the community partners who support them. Bob Danzig, a nationally acclaimed motivational speaker, former foster child, and former CEO of the Hearst Newspaper Corporation, addressed the audience and gave two of his uplifting books to children in foster care, foster parents, and foster care workers. Our goal is to cover the entire United States with these inspiring events.

In April 2004, CWLA was selected as one of four charities to participate in the Artivist Film Festival at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, California. The festival represented a conscious coalition between filmmakers, artists, and activists to raise funds and awareness for key issues, including children's advocacy.

MissionFishIn April 2004, CWLA began working with MissionFish to host an online charity auction during National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Click on the MissionFish logo to learn more about how MissionFish and CWLA are partnering to host a series of these charity auctions to help garner funds to support programs and services for children and families. Find out, too, how you can auction off your own items on eBay to benefit CWLA and help us Make Children a National Priority!

CWLA also celebrates several issue months each year to build nationwide awareness and mobilize support for important topics. In April, National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Children's Memorial Flag Campaign highlights the need to prevent violence against children. During Foster Care Month in May, CWLA distributes 1,500 promotional packets to our members and others in the child welfare field. Other issue months include Substance Abuse Recovery Month in September and National Adoption Month in November. For each issue month, CWLA places a special sticker on every piece of outgoing mail to spotlight the pertinent children's issue. Information about each of these issue months is highlighted on our website.
