Corporate Support

The Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) has long believed that dynamic partnerships with organizations, businesses, and communities are essential to strengthen the national voice for children, youth, and families. These partnerships have kept us at the vanguard of every national movement to protect children and strengthen families since 1908, when a White House Conference on the Care of Dependent Children called for the creation of two children's agencies at the national level, one public and one private. The U.S. Children's Bureau was created as the first public agency; CWLA was incorporated in 1920 as its private-sector counterpart.

Today, CWLA's nearly 700 member agencies are providing a full array of services to more than 9 million children and families through a workforce of more than 1 million dedicated and competent individuals in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the territories. CWLA's member agencies work with our 55 staff located in our headquarters in Arlington, VA and our six regional and numerous home-based offices around the country. Together, we have an unprecedented ability to form creative and mutually beneficial partnerships with organizations and corporations who share our commitment to children.

Our partnerships include CWLA also celebrates issue months each year to build national awareness and mobilize support for important topics. In April, National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Children's Memorial Flag Campaign unites people and organizations that care about eliminating violence against children. For Foster Care Month in May, CWLA distributes promotional packets to its members and others in the field of child welfare. Other issue months include Substance Abuse Recovery Month (September) and National Adoption Month (November). For each issue month, CWLA initiates activities around the country to raise visibility and encourage support. For more information on how your organization can support CWLA issue months, call 703/412-2416 or e-mail kdunn@cwla.org.
