Marketing Organically Grown Medicinal Plants

Marketing Organically Grown Medicinal Plants

Mexico

Received C$ 20850 in 1997

Expanding markets for medicinal plants may provide a group of small producers (mainly women) with a good return on their efforts in organic cultivation and transformation of the plants into products for medicinal, cosmetic, culinary and pesticide use. Introducing cultivated plants to the market will also reduce pressure on wild populations. This grant will help the group and their partners to develop their products and standards and to explore domestic and international regulations, certification processes and trade channels.
