Register now for international symposium on green building in Seattle

Montreal, 27/02/2007 – The Secretariat of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) invites you to an international symposium in Seattle, Washington, on 1-2 May. The event will gather leading architects, builders, real estate developers, policy experts and academia to discuss the opportunities and challenges for green building in North America.

The symposium provides an opportunity for the public to engage international speakers and other participants on ways to improve sustainable building practices throughout North America. Public input collected at the event, including a session hosted by the CEC’s Joint Public Advisory Committee, will help inform a CEC Secretariat report to be presented to top environmental officials for Canada, Mexico and the United States.

The report will include a series of recommendations based on background papers by green building experts, advice from a distinguished international advisory group, and consultation with the public.

On the evening of 1 May, the CEC is also pleased to host with the City of Seattle, a special event in the Urban Sustainability Forum series: Green Building in 2030 and Beyond: A North American Perspective. This event will feature the distinguished architects Bob Berkebile, Peter Busby and José Picciotto.

Registration to all events is free, and nonprofit organizations and individuals may request limited financial assistance to attend the symposium. A request to receive financial assistance can be made by pre-registering for the event before 10 April, and is limited to one person per organization.

To register, or to view additional information including the event’s agenda, please refer to our web site at www.cec.org/greenbuilding.
