Montreal, 13/07/2000 – Following the last Regular Session of the Joint Public Advisory Committee (JPAC) held on 11-13 June 2000 in Dallas, Texas, please find below the five JPAC advice that were transmitted to the Council of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC).
- Advice 00-03: Guidance Document for Improving Environmental Performance and Compliance: 10 Elements of Effective Environmental Management Systems
- Advice 00-04: The North American Fund for Environmental Cooperation (NAFEC)
- Advice 00-05: Children's Health and the Environment
- Advice 00-06: A North American Regional Action Plan (NARAP) for Lead
- Advice 00-07: Draft CEC Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PME) Plan
The CEC was established by Canada, Mexico and the United States to build cooperation among the NAFTA partners in implementing the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation (NAAEC), the environmental side accord to NAFTA. The CEC addresses environmental issues of continental concern, with particular attention to the environmental challenges and opportunities presented by continent-wide free trade.
The Joint Public Advisory Committee is a 15-member, independent, volunteer body that provides advice and public input to Council on any matter within the scope of NAAEC. |
