Montreal, 12/09/2000 – The Joint Public Advisory Committee (JPAC) of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) is requesting public input on the CEC's proposed Program Plan and Budget for 2001-2003.

Written comments on the proposed program, which should be received by 11 October, will be discussed at the next regular JPAC session, to be held 13-14 October in Washington, DC, to which the public is invited to attend (see 6 September JPAC Bulletin for more information).

The proposed Program Plan for 2001-2003 (PDF) is available electronically, along with an online form for submitting comments on the JPAC page at: <http://www.cec.org/jpac>. To request a hard copy of the proposed program plan, or to send comments in another format, please contact Jocelyne Morin at the CEC Secretariat: e-mail: <jmorin@ccemtl.org>, fax: (514) 350-4314 or telephone: (514) 350-4366.

The CEC was established by Canada, Mexico and the United States to build cooperation among the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners in implementing the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation (NAAEC), the environmental side accord to NAFTA. The CEC addresses environmental issues of continental concern, with particular attention to the environmental challenges and opportunities presented by continent-wide free trade.

JPAC is a 15-member, independent, volunteer body that provides advice and public input to Council on any matter within the scope of NAAEC.
