Highlights from NACEC trade and environment symposium now available online

Montreal, 16/10/2000 – Highlights from the North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation's (NACEC) two-day symposium, Understanding the Linkages between Trade and Environment, are now available online through the NACEC home page <http://www.cec.org>.

The highlights include a summary of the panel discussions, photos and audio clips. In addition, the NACEC Trade and Environment web page provides a detailed outline of the symposium sessions. The fourteen original research papers analyzing aspects of the North American trade-environment relationship are located at: <http://www.cec.org/symposium>.

NACEC was established by the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) environmental side accord to build cooperation among the NAFTA partners in addressing the opportunities and challenges that continent-wide free trade presents in the protection of the North American environment.

The symposium highlights were collected by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD). For more information about IISD, please consult their web page at <http://www.iisd.ca>.
