Ann Coulter Banned From NBC For Life?

So says Drudge

I wouldn’t call a privately-owned television network’s decision to no longer engage a particular pundit or author for on-air political discussions a “ban.” That smacks of the same sort of shallow thinking that had the Dixie Chicks claiming they were “censored” because their fans stopped buying their albums after they aired their political publicly

Rather, I think this is just another purposeful move to the left by NBC.  I think the folks at NBC are looking at all the success Fox is having as the “right wing” television news outlet, so they’re trying to have the same level of success by being the “left wing” television news outlet.  The move has been the most pronounced at MSNBC, with ultra-hacks Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews at the top of the lineup, but clearly the company is moving left across the board

And axing Coulter is just a symptom of it

Which is fine with me.  I’ve never liked Coulter much anyway, but I’m sure she’ll continue to get plenty of air time on other networks and her books will continue to sell well because there continues to be a market out there for trite, mean-spirited partisan commentary

On a related note, it’s funny that NBC is trying to be the left’s version of Fox News.  Because Fox News, despite claims from the left to the contrary, really isn’t all that far right.  Study after study indicates that the fairly centrist Fox News actually only appears to lean right because the rest of the media has a pronounced leftward bias

Meaning that if NBC wants to set itself out as the source for liberal media, they’re really gonna have to go far left
