HRSA Grants Support Education of Maternal and Child Health Grad Students

HHS' Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has awarded more than $4.5 million to 24 universities and teaching hospitals to support graduate-level students training for careers in maternal and pediatric health care.

The leadership grants are targeted at the next generation of supervisory clinicians and rising administrators in five critical disciplines: nursing, nutrition, communication disorders, social work and developmental behavioral pediatrics.

“The time to support maternal and pediatric specialties is right now,” said Dr. Elizabeth Duke, HRSA administrator. “These grants help build the capacity, expertise and administrative competencies that these disciplines demand.”

For decades, HRSA has overseen a broad array of grant programs aimed at ensuring the integrity and capacity of the public health system. The grants announced today seek to promote the training of critical-need specialists and health care administrators through aid programs to universities and other teaching institutions.
