Revised Policy and Procedure 42 – Recognition of Certification Standards Based on the IBS (effective June 17, 2008) In 2007 the IFOAM Norms Management Committee revised Policy and Procedure 42 on Recognition of Certification Standards Based on the IBS in order to enable more applicants to submit standards for recognition and to better serve the purpose of building up a Family of Standards. The revised Policy and Procedure were approved by the IFOAM World Board at its meeting on June 17, 2008 and are now available for download: Policy 42 – Recognition of Certification Standards Based on the IBS Procedure 42 – Recognition of Certification Standards Based on the IBS New Policy and Procedure 20 – Revision of the IFOAM Norms (effective January 30, 2008) The new policy governs regular revisions, inclusion of new items in the IFOAM Norms, urgent revisions, changes resulting from norms interpretations and changes to the lists of inputs, additives and processing aids. Policy 20 will replace: - Policy 20 for Revision of the IFOAM Basic Standards - Policy 20 - Annex 1 - Policy 21 for Urgent Standards Revisions - Policy 47 for New Work Items in the IFOAM Basic Standards. - Policy 43 for Revision of the IFOAM Accreditation Criteria - Policy 48 for Implementation of Changes to the IFOAM Norms Procedure 20 will replace: - Detailed Procedure for Policy 20 - Detailed Procedure for New Work Items under Policy 47 - NMC Guideline Regarding Policy 47 – Definition of “New Part” Policy 20 – Revision of the IFOAM Norms Procedure 20 – Revision of the IFOAM Norms For viewing the previous policies and procedures, please follow this link. Please not that the new policy and procedure will apply for all revisions initiated after January 30, 2008. The ongoing revision of the IFOAM Basic Standards 2005 is governed by the ‘old’ Policy and Procedure 20. Notification and Consultation of Stakeholders on the IFOAM Norms Policy 61 - Policy and Procedure for Notification and Consultation of Stakeholders on the IFOAM Norms Revision of IBS Input Lists Any party may request that IFOAM considers adding, deleting, or changing the status of a substance in the Appendix of the IFOAM Basic Standards for Organic Production and Processing (IBS). Evaluation and decision regarding requests to add, delete, or change the status of an input shall be based on a dossier.
