Santa’s sled arrived early this year at Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (ECBC) leaving behind a bounty of bikes, dolls, games, books, food and a life-size sleigh overflowing with teddy bears during the closing ceremony of the 21st Annual Food, Toy and Gift Drive held Wednesday, Dec. 17.

AJay Thornton promoted to SES

Alvin D. “AJay” Thornton, newly-appointed Director of Engineering for the Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (ECBC), was formally promoted to Senior Executive Service (SES) on Thursday, Dec. 4, during a ceremony held at the Center.

Dr. Augustus Way Fountain

Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md? Dr. Augustus Way Fountain III was recently appointed by the Secretary of the Army as the Senior Research Scientist for Chemistry within the Research and Technology Directorate of Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (ECBC). In this Senior Technologist position, he is responsible for planning, leading, and conducting cutting edge research in chemical defense related to the Research and Technology Directorate, ECBC, Department of the Army and Department of Defense missions.

 

 

Mr. Rick Decker II

Mr. Richard W. Decker II will be officially appointed as Technical Director of the Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (ECBC) March 2. He has served as acting director since February after serving as Director of Engineering within the organization since February 2005.

Dr. Joseph L. Corriveau

Dr. Joseph Corriveau was recently appointed Director of Research and Technology for the Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (ECBC). With this appointment, Dr. Corriveau will enter the Senior Executive Service (SES). Members of the SES serve in key positions just below top Presidential appointees and are the major link between the appointees and the federal work force.

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Equipment

Using powerful Nuclear Magnetic Resonance equipment, ECBC researchers are able to measure the residue of chemical agent on various operational surfaces. This information is important because it directly affects procedures used by warfighters in the field and helps scientists develop better surface detection systems.
