NASA chief Griffin says goodbye to employeesJan 16 2009 11:06AM
Associated Press CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) NASA Administrator Michael Griffin has said goodbye to the space agency's employees and thanked them for their hard work during his four years on the job. Griffin spoke to employees around the country in a live televised address Friday morning from NASA headquarters in Washington. He was appointed by President George W. Bush and offered his letter of resignation like many others as the federal government changes hands. He became NASA's 11th administrator in 2005, two years after the Columbia disaster and right as space shuttles were gearing up to return to flight. He said in recent months that he would be willing to stay on, but, in the end, was not asked. The incoming Obama administration has not yet named a replacement.
