Fodge Wins Ray Guy Award
Football | Senior | Punter | 6-1 | 195 | Garland, Texas (Garland High School)
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Oklahoma State’s Matt Fodge has been named the 2008 Ray Guy Award winner as the nation’s top collegiate punter, it was announced tonight by the Augusta Sports Council.

Fodge, a senior from Garland, Texas, is OSU’s first-ever Ray Guy Award winner. He averaged 44.1 yards on 31 punts this season, including 17 that were downed inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.

A second-team All-Big 12 performer, Fodge had a net punt average of just under 41 yards. Opponents returned just 10 of Fodge’s punts and managed only 51 return yards.

Fodge recorded a long punt of 71 yards against Texas Tech, which was downed at the Red Raiders’ three-yard line. Fodge had 54.8 percent of his punts downed inside the 20-yard line, and seven of his punts resulted in a fair catch.

The other finalists for the 2008 Ray Guy Award were Louie Sakoda of Utah and Pat McAfee of West Virginia.
