Description:
Duties and responsibilities include:
1) Filling bulk seed orders.
2) Coordinating and packaging garlic, plant and potato orders for shipment in the Fall and Spring.
3) Organic stock-seed production and garden maintenance.
4) Processing organic seed.
5) Data entry of orders as needed.
6) Organic compliance and training.
Applicant must have skills in Microsoft Excel and Word, plus good typing skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills required.

Seed Savers Exchange, Inc., has an immediate opening for an editor. Duties include production of four quarterly magazine-style publications for our 8,000 members, worldwide, plus work on annual seed catalog, e-newsletters, press releases, some photography, design and layout, and book editing.
Must have bachelor's degree in journalism and a minimum of five years experience in writing and editing for newspapers, magazines and books. Successful candidate will also be an experienced gardener with a passion for and working knowledge of heirloom vegetables, herbs, flowers, fruit trees and rare breeds of cattle and poultry. Salary and benefits commensurate with education and experience.

Position: Horticultural Technician - Project Coordinator
Description:
Seed Savers Exchange is seeking a highly motivated individual to assist in the maintenance of a germplasm collection of over 25,000 rare and unique vegetable and fruit varieties. This position will be assisting with planning and coordinating the planting, maintaining, evaluating, processing and harvesting of crops. Over 80 different types of plants are grown for seed production or maintained vegetativly at Heritage Farm. The Horticultural Technician will be responsible for assisting in the coordination of seed production in pollination isolation tents, in isolation gardens, commercial seed production plots, and numerous other types of plant regenerations. Additional responsibilities will include: leading seasonal garden staff, conducting controlled pollinations of field and greenhouse plantings, maintenance of vegetative germplasm such as apples and grapes, verification of taxonomy, data taking and field photography, assisting in laboratory work, and other projects related to the overall operation of Heritage Farm.
Qualifications:
There is a minimum requirement of three years of experience working in or 2 years of education in a plant biological field. Academic or on-the-job experience growing plants is required. Experience in plant monitoring or field research is also required.
Applicants must posses excellent computer skills. A background working with Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word is expected. The ability to perform detailed tasks with accuracy is crucial. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential qualities for the successful applicant. The ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with changing day to day needs is expected. Good written and oral communications skills are required. Demonstrated ability in supervising the work of others and experience providing constructive criticism is needed. Having the ability to watch over separate groups of people while personally conducting other specialized tasks is important. The willingness to continue learning and to expand their set of skills in support of the activities of Heritage Farm is expected. The ability to work efficiently and effectively with a diverse staff as part of a team is necessary. Familiarity with garden vegetables is needed. Previous farm work or extensive gardening experience with vegetables is a plus. This position at times requires a significant amount of physical activity: lifting (up to 100 lbs. assisted); carrying (50 lbs.), bending frequently, climbing, pushing, and pulling. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate various types of gasoline-powered equipment. The Horticultural Technician must be prepared to work in all types of outdoor conditions, and occasionally spend extended periods of time in dusty or subzero conditions.
