  • A.J. Cook Arthropod Research Collection Fund
Provides support for the operations of the A.J. Cook Arthropod Research Collection.
  • Beekeeping
This fund helps support extension and outreach on beekeeping and research activities on honey bee biology. Directed by Zachary Huang, the MSU Honey Bee Program reaches to audiences worldwide through the internet (http://cyberbee.msu.edu), regional and national conferences, and local and state beekeeping organizations. Prof. Huang's research includes not only basic bee biology, but also studies that are relevant to beekeepers, such as novel method for pest control and how diseases and pests affect honey bee behaviors.

  • Department of Entomology
This fund helps support operations and activities of the Department.
  • Department of Entomology Endowment

  • Entomology Scholarship Fund

  • Enviro-weather Service
This fund helps support Enviro-weather (enviroweather.msu.edu) in linking weather information with tools for decision making. We help farmers, landscapers and gardeners decide:
*The potential for plant disease or insect pest occurrence.
             *Whether frost damage is likely.
*The best time to plant, spray, irrigate, harvest.
Our weather data also helps with natural resource management such as determining the potential for forest fires.
  • Gene Thompson Memorial Fund
Gene Thompson was the former Acting Director of the Plant Industry Division at the MDA. In his honor, this fund was established to purchase Cornell drawers and cabinets for the AJ Cook Arthropod Research Collection. During his lifetime, Gene's special interest was noctuidae in Michigan and he greatly appreciated the excellent reference collection that the AJ Cook Collection provided. Each drawer purchased will bear a plate with the following inscription: In memory of Gene Thompson, Gift of [name of donor].
  • Gordon E. Guyer Endowed Graduate Fellowship Fund in Aquatic Entomology
  • Ray and Bernice Hutson Scholarship Fund
This Endowment supports graduate and undergraduate student travel to professional meetings, student research grant programs, student facilities, computers and other necessities.
  • Scriber Scholars in Butterfly Biology and Conservation
This endowment provides scholarships to students (undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral) involved in basic butterfly/moth research and outreach activities, and may be used to assist travel for these purposes.
