Animal Science has the largest departmental undergraduate enrollment major and scholarship program on the OSU-Stillwater campus. Students may choose one of nine options while earning the B.S. degree in Animal Science, or one of two options while earning the B.S. degree in a new major, Food Science. Our undergraduate students typically come from more than 35 states, representing about one-third of our students, because of the excellent reputation of our faculty, including our teaching and undergraduate educational programs. M.S. programs in Animal Science and Food Science; a Master of Agriculture degree; and Ph.D. programs in Animal Breeding and Reproduction, Animal Nutrition, and Food Science are offered.

The Department enjoys excellent rapport with alumni, livestock and agricultural organizations, producers, food processors, and legislative leaders. The Department has a legacy of emphasizing equally outstanding programs and activities among all academic functions in Teaching, Research and Extension, and has excellent livestock units, including elite purebred herds.

Animal Science faculty conduct research in the Animal Science Building, the Noble Research Center, and the Oklahoma Food and Agricultural Products Research and Technology Center. The Department has excellent classrooms and research laboratories, substantial livestock numbers, and operates more than 12,600 acres in support of its various educational programs. The Department is proud of its rich tradition, excellent judging teams, livestock units and legacy of service to our students, alumni and the livestock, equine and food industries.
